MasterWorks Chorale Sings the Classics.  In recent years, the classical repertoire has included Brahms Requiem, Bach's Mass in B Minor, Poulenc's Gloria, and the Berlioz Requiem. The Chorale also sings show tunes, pops, folk songs and other lighter choral numbers every spring.

ORIGINS:
MasterWorks Chorale (formerly the Marcellus Chorale) was founded in 1965 by Dr. Joseph Centrone, the organization's first conductor, who formed a chorus from four of the church choirs in Marcellus, New York.  The present conductor, Maureen McCauley, assumed leadership in 1977. Throughout the years, an emphasis was placed on the performance of classical music.

PERFORMANCES:
There are generally three major performances each year. The winter concert features one or more major works by classical composers.  The Chorale is also available for subscription concerts. MasterWorks performs throughout Central New York, principally in Onondaga and Cayuga Counties.  Performance locations have included Auburn, Aurora, Camillus, Marcellus, Skaneateles, Syracuse and Oswego.  Our orchestra musicians have typically come from the ranks of the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra. In seasons past, we collaborated  Auburn Chamber Orchestra to present Mozart's Requiem, and with the Syracuse Chorale in
Beethoven's Missa Solemnis and the Berlioz Requiem.

COME SING WITH US:
We have openings for all voices, and we are especially eager to add some sopranos and tenors. Come join an excellent and dedicated group of singers who enjoy performing the choral classics. Attend a rehearsal and try us out! (See schedule.) There's no need to call ahead. If you decide to continue coming to rehearsals, the conductor will set up a voice check with you.
